Just to document, Starlet started crawling yesterday. I’m really not a big milestone comparison person. Stunt Boy did everything “late” by standards. Teeth, rolling, crawling, walking, etc… I obsessed over those things. When babies born at the same time did stuff I freaked that SB wasn’t doing them. SOOOOOO first time mom, right?? I remember the pedi nurse telling me at 4 months, “He’ll be rolling over any day now.” It was the day before his 6 month exam that he finally rolled! Looking back I was so worried, like *I* was going to be in trouble for my kid not rolling. Ha!
With Starlet, I’m just letting it all go. I keep up with the “roundabouts” because I wouldn’t want her to fall grossly behind like SB did with talking, but – really – she’s only 7 months old. When all her “friends” started crawling I just had to laugh…she was showing no interest. Then, slowly, we started rocking, but afraid to make the first move. Well, I’m not sure what happened during nap time yesterday but Starlet woke up crawling!
She’s still a little slow and intimidated, but I know in no time she’ll be everywhere. She, of course, headed straight to the outlet.
I’m slightly freaking out, too, over all the little things in the house. When SB was a baby there was nothing on the floor, now Starlet has ALL of SB’s toys and all of their parts. UGH! And she never ever goes toward her stuff or SBs big items its always the tiny parts she finds. UGH! a pack n play in the living room is totally in my future!!
Here is the first video of crawling. I’m directing her from the outlet. Notice the shoe, sock and baby carriage all as motivation but she goes for the paper. {anyone else had a paper obsessed baby??}
